In this piece, I had to capture my classmate from my MGSA Painting class without painting from life. Before starting this painting, I had to do multiple timed sketches, which served as my reference. I started with a red acrylic ground to bring more warmth into the face and began layering oil paint on top. It was challenging working with a bigger canvas that I stretched. But I believe I achieved the essence of my classmate.
