Mediums: Acrylic Paint, Gouache, Newspaper, Construction Paper, Oil Pastels, Popsicle Sticks, and Cardboard
Size: 17" x 21"
Surrounded by the dull fall foliage, I sat on the ground holding up a paint brush to paint a contrasted bright green leaf against a framed mirror. Using my creativity and art I was able to brighten up the place leaving a mark in this portrait. This was a painting created for a reflected self-portrait assignment for Studio II Honors, where I tried to experiment with different mediums. I started off painting with acrylic and gouache. I originally intended to expand the frame by crocheting over a cardboard base, but the texture didn't match the rest of the piece. So I decided to cut up popsicle sticks to glue on top of the cardboard. For the brown, red, and yellow leaves attached around the frame, I used watered-down acrylic on the newspaper and construction paper. Towards the end, I used oil pastels for the extra details and texture.
